12 Apostel

Exhibition design

The art group Kunstverein Unit e.V. ordered a conceptual exhibition design for the tree circle “12 Apostel” in Rheinhardsbrunn.

Tree circles were used as justice courts as well as ritual places in old European cultural contexts. This mystical meaning was mainly created by the specific space effect of the tree circles.

The exhibition architecture picked up these experience of limited and more open space experience by presenting the visitor a kind of abstract tree circle. The exhibition consisted of 12 stylized tree constructions, each integrating a picture of the artists. Lighting design gave some extra stress with cold and warm-white light to the outer borders, furthermore it supported the exhibitions focal points paintings and texts.

My task in the exhibition team was design and realisation of light atmosphere. Lighting design gives some extra stress with cold and warm-white light to the outer borders, furthermore it supports the exhibitions focal points paintings and texts.

This mystical atmosphere is supported by a well without a 'real' depth. This effect based on an optical mirror effect.
